Lifestyles have changed significantly during the last 100 years. At the turn of the last century, most homes were built with drawing rooms and parlors. These functioned as places to receive visitors, places to entertain close friends and family, places of instruction, and places for families to gather.

How to Prepare a Picture Plane For Drawing
To know how to prepare your picture plane (pp) for drawing, first you must know how does it work. First you need to have a clean piece of Plexiglas (8″ x 12″) and hold it in front of your eyes. Now look around through that Plexiglas. You can look around your room, at a table, look at it from different angles, look a doorway and what you see in the other room, you can even go and look down the street, everywhere.
You can draw everything that you see through that piece of plastic, first directly on that piece, afterwards on paper, when you’ll get the hang of it.
For preparing a picture plane for drawing you’ll need: a Plexiglas (8″ x 12″), a fine- point permanent marker, a washable marker and a ruler. Next you will need to make a grid on your pp. First take the permanent marker and draw diagonals on the plastic. Now draw one vertical and one horizontal line in the center of the plastic. Now the paper plane is divided into four boxes.
Next step involves dividing the four boxes into smaller boxes of 2″ x 3″ vertical. Now each of these boxes will also be divided into four smaller ones each. The drawing will be made with the washable marker. The purpose of the grid is to help you to see the relations between the different shaper that you want to draw. It will also help you transfer the drawing from the pp to the paper.
When you start drawing on the plastic you must be careful to stay motionless. It is important that the picture plane doesn’t move either. This is necessary because the image that you are trying to draw must remain static. You can prevent the piece of plastic to move by propping it on a book, or simply on your lap.
Award Winning Italian Meatballs
Here is a recipe for Italian meatballs that helped win a cooking contest that I entered. The prize for the winner was a limo for the night for friends and family and a trip to San Francisco to a top notch Italian restaurant called Fior d’Italia. If you have a recipe for a dish that you love, you might consider entering a cooking contest. There are thousands of cooking contests around the United States.
Some of the winners receive money, prizes or their own cooking show on TV. The Food Network TV channel is always casting for a competition. Check out their web site for; The Next Food Network Star competition.
Here is my Italian meatball recipe. The recipe that won the award is called; “Rigatoni Pasta With Raisin Meatballs And Portabella Mushrooms Topped With A Fresh Tomato-Marsala Sauce.”
